As Senior Research Affiliate with the MIT Task Force on the Work of the Future, Allison supports research on specific regions and industries. Her focus is on how regional workforce development systems are adapting to the changing expectations of workers, learners, employers and educators.

Dr. Allison Forbes holds a Master of Community Planning degree from the University of Maryland and a PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her doctoral dissertation evaluated opportunities to strengthen workforce skills, training provision and job quality in manufacturing supply chains with a focus on automotive regions. Her work with the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness in Arlington, Virginia, supports data-driven decision making as she seeks to reduce information asymmetries between employers, educators and their intermediaries
